Bewick UPDATE -
Ladies and Gentleman:
My company Georgian Triangle Plumbing Ltd has generously agreed to donate 50,000 air miles which is enough to fly two people anywhere in the continental United States or Canada as the prize for MVP of the Bewick Cup. We also have 4 TFC tickets and other prizes. This prize will not necessarily go to the highest goal scorer and will be done by blind ballet at the banquet. You will have to attend the banquet to receive any prize.
We now have enough players for four teams but I am pushing to get six teams fielded. So I am waiving the late fee and registration is still only $30.00. Contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for any info on this tournament, banquet or tickets.
Regards,
Colin Wills (General Manager)

Bewick Cup
Although changing format many times The Bewick Cup has been a part of Collingwood Adult soccer for many years. The 'CUP' is named in memory of a Past President of the former Adult Soccer league, Gary Bewick. Gary was taken tragically in a motorcyle accident in 2002.
Please note the Bewick Cup is open to all adult players in the CUSC. This includes Monday O35's, Wed league and the three travel teams.
Colin Wills has stepped up to run the Bewick this year (thank-you Colin). He is looking for a few volunteers to captain that day as well as some volunteers for other tasks. Please see below a message from Colin which includes the format, date etc.
Good Day Everyone,
I have volunteered my services to run this year’s Bewick Cup tournament.
We will be holding the Bewick Cup the same day as the adult banquet 2nd October at Fisher Field 1 and 2. With presentation of the cup that night. Tournament fee will include admission to banquet. There will be refreshments - hot dogs and hamburgers etc at the field.
Entry Fee will be as follows:
Early bird paid before September 1st $30.00.
After September 1st but before the actual day $40.00 and $50.00 on the day.
Tournament starts at 8am for same day registration. Captains will pick teams at 8.30am. First games start at 9am.
Format is as follows:
Round Robin 4 teams. 1 hour games, half hour halves. Each team plays each other on Fisher 1 and 2 with half hour breaks between games.
No Semi final just 1st plays 2nd from round robin and 3rd plays 4th full 45 minute halves straight to shoot out after final whistle.
This was a fantastic event last year and will be a great rap up of the 2010 outdoor season.
I will have tickets next week. But feel free to confirm your participation via return email and I will chase you down for a cheque later.
Regards Colin

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!
On Thursday, August 19th, four days after winning the Traganitis Cup, Collingwood United Men's Premier team won the York Region Soccer League Premier division for the first time ever!!
United were playing there arch rivals and YRSL last year winner's Owen Sound United. With two games remaining Collingwood only needed one point to win the league but they came to play and to win against Owen Sound.
Collingwood came out flying with a few great chances at the start and kept Owen Sound on there toes. In the 25th minute Collingwood scored by Jesse Mills from a corner kick. Then in the 35th minute Steve Helm was brought down in the penalty box and Will Gott scored to make it 2-0. In the 40th minute Steve Helm scored a great goal to make it 3-0 at the half.
In the second half OSU scored a cracker of a goal to make it 3-1 then just after that they were awarded a penalty shot but missed. OSU with a man send off came on strong and gave it all they had but in the 80th minute Zack O'Gorman scored to put the icing on the cake to make the final score 4-1 for the League CHAMPS!!!!
The game was a total team effort just like the season has been!!
Collingwood United are know focusing on the playoffs and are going for the treble.
We would like to thank our sponsors The Shipyards and Play It Again Sports for helping us achieve everything we did this season!

right to left - Courtney Doyle, Kiri Langford, Keith Currie, Kelley Van Boxmeer, Jessica Curran
President Keith Currie was on hand last week, at Collingwood Collegiate's Commencement Ceremony, to present this years CUSC Scholarships to four very deserving young women.
All four girls currently play on our U18 Rep team and between them have coached, reffed and played in numerous house and rep games over the past 14 years.
In addition to being great athletes these young ladies all graduated CCI as Ontario Scholars; having achieved an average of 80% or more.
The CUSC wish the girls luck as they proceed on to their Post Secondary Education - Kiri Langford - Wilfrid Laurier, Kelley Van Boxmeer - Nipissing University, Jessica Curran - Brock and Courtney Doyle - Nipissing.

Traganitis Cup Final with Collingwood United Soccer Club Men's Premier Team against Orillia SC at Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston.
It was Collingwood's third time in as many years going for the Traganitis Cup.
It was a scorcher of a final and both team's came to play. It was back and forward in the beginning of the game and then Collingwood took over with possession but 0-0 at half. The second half Collingwood came out to win with taken control of the game but still could not score until about 70th minute when Daniel Bailey with poise scored to make it 1-0. the in the 80th minute with an unselfish type play by Captain Jeff Fawcett made a great pass to league leading goal scorer Lee Farley to make it 2-0. The game finished 2-0 for Collingwood to make it three years in a row.
A great game by all but some outstanding play by Gary Moffat, Jesse Mills on defense, Derek Belisle (with broken ribs) and Will Gott both had a great game in midfield and Travis Sandberg who has been there all year long had a great game plus a clean sheet in net.
The Men's Premier Team are sponsored by The Shipyards and Play it Again Sports.
On Thursday we are going for the York Region Soccer League title for the first time against Owen Sound United 9pm at Fisher Field.
